TOPIC Topic title: Teaching remotely Topic selection: I chose teaching remotely as a topic because teachers worldwide were thrust into teaching all ages, learning levels, and grades online as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Learning Need: There is a learning need for teachers because some teachers have never learned how to teach online. I find this problematic for teachers of a head start and elementary age. Target Audience: Preschool/ Head start teachers, Elementary school teachers, middle school teachers, and high school, teachers. Why does it need to be addressed effectively by an instructional intervention? I believe that teachers need training /support because there is no one way you can teach online. Some teachers have never had instruction on how to teach online and manage a classroom and maintain a student/teacher relationship behind a computer. NEED ANALYSIS Two Possible causes of the need: The first cause of need would be the lack of experience teaching remotely. A survey would need to be sent to state school systems to assess each school system’s needs. The second cause of need is to address the concerns that the teachers responded to in the survey to create training to support their learning. Introductory action to address the learning need: The introductory action that I would take would address the learning need would be to send an initial email to all state school systems to identify the need for the training. I would also reach out to teacher boards and groups via social media to discuss the pros and cons of providing virtual teaching training. learner characteristics Task: During my reading of this week’s chapter, I found that my project fell under multiple structures that were reviewed. Facts, Concepts, Principles and Rules, Attitudes, Interpersonal skills, and Procedures. I will first choose Concepts. I will select concepts because the trainer should break the training down according to grade level and or lesson subject. In order to make the course user friendly. Once the trainer breaks down the concepts of the course, I would like to choose my next structure to be interpersonal skills. As with teaching virtually, you will have to connect to the student and engage with many students on the same platform. I think this is important because students may be to shy to speak up in an online course. So I would like the trainer to include an Interpersonal skills session after concepts. three instructional objectives The learners in my project are preschool. Grade school an high school teachers who will have to teach students virtually. Whether new teachers or veteran teachers this course will provider a beginnings and refresher course for staff. The believe that teachers need training because there is no one way to teach online. Psychomotor: The teacher will be able to demonstrate their ability to engage students in a online learning environment. Cognitive: The teacher will be able to identify the need in the learning environment without being in the learning environment. Behavior/Affective: The teacher will be able to connect to each child and talk about their day and feelings without the use of a camera or seeing their facial expression
